Do something that makes you happy

Everyone always seam to be to busy to do something that makes them happy.

Every day we should do something just for ourselves. Going for a walk, watching the sunset, reading a book we like or cooking a nice meal. On the days that I work I like to have a nice lunch in a favorite coffee shop. I call it my time out time. I plan my week, write in my journal or just enjoy my time alone watching other people.

I have just finished reading a book by Kathy Webb Other people's diaries, It was about a group of people living in Brisbane, who with the help of Alice attempted to change their life by doing things differently. The aim was to make slight changes and to do something for themselves in an attempt to make their life more rewarding and happy. Each participant followed Alice's suggestions and recorded their results and their feelings on a secure web page called the The Red Folder Project. After a few weeks the participants had changed the way they did things - sometimes the results were not what they expected.

Pink Shoes

I need to buy a new pair of walking shoes - the heel is breaking away on my favorite pair. Sometimes I would like to be able to splurge out and buy a fancy pair of pink shoes - but as I am prone to ankle twisting it would not be a good idea. So I will just collect shoe ornaments for my shoe collection.

Book Round Up

Its time to return a few of my library books back to the library. I will have to borrow some another time. Since finishing Whose life is it anyway? by Sinead Moriarty I am having trouble deciding what I will read. Tried reading Pretty little mistake by Heather McElhalton, it would be a good book to read while on holiday but I can't get lost in it. It has 1 beginning and 150 endings depending on choices you make. My first 3 attempts the girl winds up dying. So I might just give something else a try.

I have had two attemps to start reading Someone special by Sheila O'Flanagan ( six blue shoes on cover) its slow going and I have to finish reading it before the 19th January.

Other books in my book pile at the moment are - Other peoples diaries by Kathy Webb, (2 red shoes on cover), Just breath by Susan Wiggs (looks like a good book, no shoes, I like the way Susan writes. The grasshopper shoe by carolyn Leach-Paholski, The da-da-de-da-da by Robert Rankin, The biographer by Virginia Duigan, The case of the shoplifter's shoe by Erle Stanley, Avoiding mr Right by Anita Heiss, Lets meet on platform 8 by Carole Matthews, Swapping lives by Jane Green and Found wanting by Robert gooddard. Thats some of the books I am hoping to read.

Good Reading

In the last week I finished reading Whose Life Is It Anyway? By Sinead Moriarty. Cover is mauve with green thongs (or flip flops) with a purple flower and white rubber boots with purple flowers. This was a good fun book. Lots of humour. It was about an Irish family living in the UK. They had a large extended Irish family. The youngest daughter Niamh goes to Ireland to attend college and then stays on working as a journalist. After a few hopeless romances she meets and falls in love with an older man. He is not Irish or Catholic. Niamh finds it difficult to tell her family about the love of her life.

Book Review

Finished reading The beach house by Jane green on 4th January 2009. It was a good book to read while on holiday. Very easy to read. Finished it in one week. Although most of those days it was really hot and I was tired and kept falling asleep. I did enjoy the book. It was about an elderly lady living on her own in an old house on an Island. She has financial difficulties so she decides to invite guests to stay for the summer holidays. Her guests arrive and the magic of the house and Island create a nurturing environment where the guests are able to relax and reconnect with their inner desires.

Love to Read Never Enough Time

The last few weeks have been extremely busy. I have a pile of books waiting for me to read. Never enough time to read them or I am too tired or there are too many insects at night and I have to turn out the light.

At the moment I am reading The beach house by Jane Green. I am almost finished. Hope to finish it tonight.

Books by Jane Green can be viewed on her web page.
